Rotary Rally 2013

It’s not often you see this many piston-less vehicles in one place, but you can always count on the Deal’s Gap Rotary Rally do deliver.

Here you can find everything from the early RX-3′s to the current RX-8, as well as everything in between and more (rail car, a few repu’s, and even a rotary motorcycle). Cody and I were mainly shooting video for the day, but I managed to get some photo coverage at the dam.

Stay tuned for video later on as we are still filtering through the footage.

Here are some highlights.
(More will be posted on the facebook page.)

Phil Sohn, organizer and head hancho of the DGRR, drove up this beautiful montego blue RX-7 FD. Sporting a laundry list of modifications, this car has been around for a while.  I’ve also been following the build over the last year or so of his Silver RX-7, which is getting a tri-rotor power plant among other parts.

Ferrari Club of America 2013 Tail of the Dragon.

Words & Photography: Josh McCoig | Editor: Richard Graves

This past weekend I was lucky enough to be in the presence of some masterpieces of mechanical design… A few million bucks worth, in fact.

A group from the Ferrari Club of America (including a few Maseratis to boot), stayed at the wonderful Tapoco Lodge in Robbinsville, NC and took over The Tail of the Dragon.

Here are a few highlights from Saturday:

We at AForwardMotion have been anticipating the Smokies Stadium event hosted by East10Drift ever since it was announced in the off season. Despite the weather forecast, there was still a healthy amount of drivers present and plenty of rubber to be burned. Several drivers showed up from events past with totally new setups as well. Above, Michael Tetro rocked his new rainbow flake wrap and an LS2 swap, before having the unpainted rocket bunny kit and an RB swap.

Import Alliance Spring 2013 Part 2

Photography & Words: Wes Oakes

Fortunately I was also able to make it down to Atlanta for Import Alliance’s spring meet. I made it down a bit later in the morning in hopes of getting a look at some of the cars that filed in after the early morning rush. To my surprise I ran into some familiar cars such as John Dant’s IS350. A Nashville native, he recently acquired this car and is , as always, doing a quality job in his choice modifications.

IA ATL 2013

The Spring meet is always successful in bringing in cars from all around the eastern US. The infamous Cass made it up from Tampa with his bagged VIP TL. The new wheels and big brake kit really pop.

After the break we’ll get a better look into the cars, the people, and the meet.

Spring Dyno Day 2013 Video

Our first Dyno Day teaming up with Tony @ High-Velocity-Motorsports was a great success despite the rain. We’ll post up the horsepower figures once they are gone though. Thank you to everyone that came out and ran their cars on the dyno and also thank you to those that donated to Bubba’s family for the burial of his father. Tony will be teaming up with Mark @ Fastech Motorsports on Memorial Day weekend to host a Dyno Shootout with a winner take all prize for the King of the Hill competition.

Another spring tradition in the southeast is the Spring Import Alliance meet in Atlanta, Georgia. This year the gathering has moved on to Atlanta Motor Speedway. As usual Don Napier and co. have organized another great event.

The legacy of the spring meet has always been that this is the first place for most owner’s to show off their new builds that they have shed blood sweat and tears over the last few months. Several well assembled cars were on-site everything from; a b-series civic to a large frame all-wheel drive EVO, to the supra and GTR highway warriors.

After the break we’ll cover the highlights of the meet.

KMS Drift at Beech Bend Raceway

Photography & Words: Wes Oakes

When the average car nut thinks about drifting he (or she) most likely thinks of either back roads hooning or Formula Drift, the pro series. In grassroots motorsports culture you have to have competitive outlets for amateurs and aspiring pros. That’s where series such as the Koss MotorSports (KMS) drift series comes into play. Headed up by Steve Koss, the KMS Drift series travels the eastern United States and hosts events. Amateurs as well as Pro-Am drivers participate in the events for trophies and prizes, along with some much valued seat time. After the break you can follow my day as we tagged along with JohnnyK and the rest of the crew.
